I am having difficulty trying to transfer a £300,000 pension fund held in a Scottish Widows drawdown account. I want to keep my pot invested in the same fund but move the money into a retirement account also run by Scottish Widows, with lower fees.
I pay a 0.875 per cent management charge, which would fall to 0.35 per cent for the same fund in the Retirement Account. This includes a service charge of 0.25 per cent.
This means that I am paying about £1,700 in excess fees every year. Scottish Widows refuses to give me an illustration of the fees I would incur in the Retirement Account because it says I cannot switch without taking financial advice, which would obviously be a significant cost
