Saudi ministry says industrial factories rise by 2,169 since 2019, investments top SAR 360 bln

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced that the number of industrial facilities increased by about 2,169 since the ministry’s inception in 2019 until the end of Q2 2022, with investments exceeding SAR 360 billion.

This constitutes a growth of more than 25% during the period.

Concerning the job creation and the development of human capabilities in the industrial sector, the ministry said that the number of actual employees in productive factories increased from 501,000 in 2019 to 648,900 workers by Q2 2022-end with a growth rate of nearly 29%, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported.

 The percentage of Saudization reached more than 31%, while women employment in the industrial sector stood at 13%.

The ministry issued about 1,374 mining licenses since 2019 and until the end of July 2022, bringing the total permits to over 2,000.

The number of industrial facilities by July-end reached about 10,675, with the total investments in the sector amounting to more than SAR 1.367 trillion.
